UniFi Networks for Businesses

Professional UniFi networks – Wi-Fi, switching, and central management from a single source, planned and deployed by your WSV Systemhaus.

Who is it for?

Companies with multiple access points, floors, or sites that want to organize Wi-Fi, switching, and network management centrally and transparently.

A stable business network isn't just about fast Wi-Fi. Access points, switches, VLANs, internet access, and security components all need to be planned together. That's exactly where Ubiquiti's UniFi platform comes in: many network components can be centrally configured, monitored, and documented.

  • Do you still have Wi-Fi dead zones or unstable connections in your office or warehouse?
  • Does your guest Wi-Fi run on the same network as servers, printers, or internal applications?
  • Do you have multiple sites that should be managed consistently?

One platform for Wi-Fi, switching, and network management

WSV plans and implements UniFi networks for businesses and, on request, takes over ongoing operations as a Managed Network or Managed WLAN. UniFi combines access points, managed switches, gateways, and a central management interface in one platform – including VLANs, guest access, and monitoring of devices and load. We don't deploy UniFi by default; we check whether the platform is a technical and economic fit for your environment.

Professional Wi-Fi starts with planning

Simply distributing access points by floor area or by feel often leads to dead zones or unstable connections. For a solid plan, we look at floor plans and building structure, potential sources of interference, number of users, devices in use, required bandwidth, and neighboring wireless networks – including an on-site survey or Wi-Fi site scan where useful.

VLANs and separate Wi-Fi zones

Guest Wi-Fi shouldn't have access to servers, printers, or internal applications – the same often applies to phones, cameras, and building technology. Using VLANs and matching firewall rules, we logically separate these zones and define which devices are allowed to communicate with each other.

UniFi gateway or a separate business firewall?

UniFi offers its own gateways for routing and basic security functions – an economical, well-integrated solution for many manageable environments. For higher requirements around threat detection, logging, or complex VPN scenarios, we instead combine UniFi for Wi-Fi and switching with a professionally managed Securepoint firewall.

Planning resilience realistically

A centrally managed network isn't automatically highly available. Depending on your protection needs, we plan redundant uplinks, multiple switches instead of a single central device, adequately sized UPS systems, and model- and version-dependent redundancy features of suitable gateways. Which measures make economic sense depends on your actual cost of downtime – our IT downtime cost calculator offers a first orientation.

Frequently asked questions

Is UniFi only meant for home networks?

No. UniFi is also used in many business environments. What matters is proper planning, appropriate sizing, and checking whether the features and operating model fit the company's requirements.

Can existing switches or access points be reused?

Generally yes, as long as they support the required VLAN, PoE, security, and management functions. However, mixed operation can make management and troubleshooting harder – we check where reuse makes sense.

Does a guest Wi-Fi network require a separate internet line?

Usually not. Guest Wi-Fi can be separated from the internal network using VLANs and firewall rules. A separate internet line can still make sense for particular bandwidth or security requirements.

Can UniFi be combined with a Securepoint firewall?

Yes. UniFi can provide Wi-Fi and switching, while a Securepoint firewall handles internet access, VPN, and defined security functions. VLANs, DHCP, routing, and firewall rules need to be properly coordinated between them.

Does WSV also handle ongoing support?

Yes, via Managed Network or Managed WLAN, agreed components can be monitored, updated, and documented. The specific scope of service, along with support and response times, is set out in the contract.
